Brief: D&D London needed to raise the profile of some of their key restaurants. In particular, Plateau restaurant in Canary Wharf was suffering due to the recession. The days of bankers having long boozy lunches were long gone and austerity had kicked in during the credit crunch. The PR and Marketing brief was to increase footfall to the restaurant whilst maintaining Plateau’s reputation as an excellent fine dining establishment.
Method: To attract private dining bookings and to increase business, local banks were targeted to increase awareness of the restaurant. Events were set up for PAs, wine tasting, summer drinks on the terrace for them to come and have a look at the restaurant and see the private dining rooms. Recipe cards were created with the chef Tim Tolley and distributed by a promotional team in Canary Wharf to increase to increase awareness on the street as the restaurant was not at street level, therefore had no passing trade. The recipe card was also used as an e-shot to Plateau’s database locally, which included all local companies. Local newspapers were invited in to review and dine in the restaurant.
Results: Due to the increased marketing activity for the restaurant more coverage was generated and more awareness of Plateau was built in the local area. Footfall to the restaurant increased and booking for events and private dining increased significantly.
