Brief: London’s leading independent school for girls was seeking a PR company for a short term campaign to help raise awareness of a future Community Music Centre that was to be built in the school grounds. PR campaign needed also to support the effort to raise 17 million UKP in funds.
Method: 7PR proposed a ‘Wall of Fame’ that would be included in the centre when built. Celebrities who had a sympathy for music would be approached and invited to the school to sign bricks that would be included in the eventual wall. Students at the school had the opportunity to spend time with the celebrities, and photographers were invited to these occasions and to see the brick signings. Interviews were also arranged with carefully chosen media. Crisis communications was also a part of the client’s remit.
Result: Joanna Lumley, Amanda Redman, Danny Baker, Charlotte Ritchie, Sally Hawkins, Nicky Campbell all agreed to back the project. Photocalls and interviews were arranged. Media coverage secured in national and London media, local and educational press.
